Stolen ATM Found in Dumpster: Police Investigating

NEWPORT, RI – Police are investigating a stolen Automatic Teller Machine, which was found in a dumpster on Pond Avenue.

Pond Avenue resident William Griffin said officers knocked on his door around 7:30 this morning (Friday, Dec. 2) and asked if he had heard anything suspicious.

Griffin said he had not heard any unusual noises.

Police were canvassing the neighborhood looking for information, he said.

Griffin said officers told him a stolen ATM had been found in a dumpster by the side of the building.

Newport Police Sgt. Jason Kleinknecht confirmed the ATM was found and detectives are investigating.
