Police said they responded to a city address to take the complaint from two women, aged 24 and 27 respectively, who said that Maher became upset after getting a traffic ticket in Middletown.

The three had been driving in Maher’s call all day and after getting the ticket, she got upset, took a Klonopin and later, back at one of the victim’s houses in Newport, she started drinking.

Eventually, the victims said Maher became violent and attacked them.

Police said both women were not seriously hurt, and Maher was arrested for DUI a short time after midnight by Portsmouth Police.

Maher was transferred to Newport where she was charged and released to the custody of Portsmouth Police with a Sept. 3 Second Division Court Date for the Newport charges.
