Police: Woman Charged With Assault, Vandalism, in Love Triangle

Newport Police said a Warwick woman became enraged after she woke up to see her boyfriend kissing another woman in their hotel room.

Police charged Joanna M. Toole, 44, of 184 Arlington Ave., Warwick, with domestic simple assault, simple assault and vandalism Dec. 28 at 6:15 p.m.

Police said Toole damaged a coffee pot and sink at the Pineapple Inn after she woke up to find her boyfriend kissing another woman in the hotel room.

She then allegedly assaulted both her boyfriend and the other woman, according to a police report.

Police said Toole and her boyfriend were staying at the hotel for a few days to get away from the city. The other woman joined them for the evening and Toole told police that she fell asleep after drinking.

When she woke up, she reportedly saw her boyfriend kissing the other woman. Toole then became enraged, threw her boyfriend’s belongings out the door and into the parking lot, struck both victims and smashed the coffee pot against the bathroom sink, causing the pot to smash and putting a hole in the sink.

Both victims did not suffer serious injuries and declined medical attention.
