Preliminary Results District 13: Dawn Euer Apparent Winner By 687 Votes

NEWPORT, RI — The Special Election for Senate District 13 is over, but the results will not be official until late next week. That's because the Board of Elections is holding 230 ballots pending an investigation, according to Tracy A. Nelson, Newport's canvassing clerk. The board is holding them until Monday, and the election results will not be certified until Aug. 31 or Sept. 1. Meanwhile, Democrat Dawn Euer finished with 687 votes more than Republican Mike Smith.

Euer collected 1,982 votes over Smith's 1,295 votes. Ripoli had 73. Larson was last with 17, and there were 7 write-ins.
