Rhode Island was ranked number 47 out of 50 in WalletHub's list of best states to retire.

New data from WalletHub names Rhode Island as one of the worst states in the country when it comes to retirement. According to the ranking, the Ocean State is nearly in last place, coming in at number 48 out of 50.

To determine the ranking, WalletHub considered several variables, including affordability, quality of life and healthcare, ranking states in each category. From there, the organization gave states a total score out of 100, ranking them from best to worst.

First place, unsurprisingly, went to Florida, which excelled both in "affordability" and "quality of life." Behind the sunshine state were Colorado, New Hampshire, Utah and Wyoming.
