Rhode Island Weather: Wet Week Ahead
Converging weather systems are drawing some comparisons to the infamous "Perfect Storm," but at a less-intense level.
After a very warm and sunny start to fall, cooler temperatures and wet weather have arrived in Rhode Island's forecast. A strengthening coastal storm is expected to cause rainy weather every day this week, with Tuesday as the possible exception.
"A winter storm taking shape across the [northern] U.S. while an ocean storm wobbles offshore of the [Southern] New England coastline for the late week period," the National Weather Service said. Two weather systems are coming together and will likely stall out over the Atlantic, sort of how the infamous "Perfect Storm" did.
"There are some similarities to the Halloween Storm, otherwise known as the 'Perfect Storm' from 1991, but on a much smaller and less-intense scale," AccuWeather senior meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said.
