Rhode Island Weekend Weather: Mostly Sunny Skies Ahead

The first full weekend of fall is going to feel pretty summery in Rhode Island. Expect sunny skies during the day on Saturday and Sunday, with a chance of thunderstorms during the overnight hours.

For those of you who are ready to put away shorts in favor of sweater weather, you may not have too long to wait. According to the National Weather Service, cooler temperatures are expected across New England as we head into October.

For now, though, summer still has a hold on Southern New England. Daytime temperatures will reach the mid-to-upper 70's throughout the weekend, with the only chance of rain early Sunday morning. Friday will be bright an sunny as well, with temperatures peaking around 73 degrees.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Patchy fog after 1 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. North wind 9 to 11 mph.

Mostly clear, with a low around 51. North wind 3 to 6 mph.

Monday
Sunny, with a high near 69. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.
