NEWPORT, RI — A coastal flood advisory has been issued for Rhode Island and parts of Massachusetts into Friday morning due to Thursday's line of storms and astronomical high tides. The RI advisory includes Southeast Providence, Eastern Kent, Bristol, Washington and Newport.

The National Weather Service said up to one foot of inundation above ground level is expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. Minor coastal flooding is expected. Flooding of lots, parks and roads with isolated road closures are possible.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects throughout the state on Thursday afternoon until into the evening. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Winds are expected between 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts to 50 miles per hour in coastal areas.
