RI Weather: 2020 Starting Out With Rain, Rain, Rain

Expect nothing but wet weather in Rhode Island for the first weekend of 2020.

RHODE ISLAND — The Ocean State is starting out 2020 on a wet, rainy note. The first weekend of the new decade will see nothing but wet weather following sunny skies on Thursday.

The first storm of the new year is expected to bring rain and snow to Massachusetts from Saturday night into Sunday morning, but flakes aren't expected to fall here in Rhode Island until at least Sunday, mixing with rain throughout the day. The timing of the changeover from snow to rain is still unclear, meaning the Patriots will face off against nasty weather along with Tennessee in their first playoff game at Gillette.

At this time, the National Weather Service has not issued any watches or advisories for the storm.
