RI Weather: 'Bombogenesis' Nor'easter To Slam Region This Week

Another nor'easter is headed towards Southern New England this week.

Another nor'easter has set its sights on Rhode Island. A second major storm is on its way to Southern New England this week, which forecasters said will be a more direct hit.

The storm is expected to hit by Wednesday evening, bringing heavy rain and powerful winds into Thursday. Later that day, a cold front with blustery winds will follow the storm, the National Weather Service said. Forecasters are using the term "bombogenesis" to describe the storm. That means the storm is expected to intensify rapidly as it lashes out on the region.

As of Tuesday morning, no warnings or hazardous weather outlooks have been issued for Rhode Island by the National Weather Service. Patch will update when there is more information.
