RI Weather: Downpours, T-Storms Soaking Tuesday, Wednesday

The middle of this week may see some severe weather across the region. Heavy rain throughout Tuesday will be followed by a few potentially strong thunderstorms, according to forecasters. A hazardous weather outlook has been issued across the entire state for Wednesday.

The National Weather Service said Tuesday's dry and cool weather will give way to heavy widespread rain that could result in flooding. On Wednesday, the weather becomes warm and muggy again as scattered showers and "a few strong t-storms" move in, especially later Wednesday.

Much of Rhode Island is expecting up to 2 inches of rain from Tuesday morning to Wednesday night, though more could fall to the west. Eastern Mass. could see up to 2 inches of rain.

Monday - Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Northeast wind around 14 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Monday night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. East wind 7 to 11 mph.

Tuesday - Rain, mainly after 9am. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 66. Southeast wind 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Tuesday night - Rain before 9pm, then showers, mainly after 9pm. The rain could be heavy at times. Patchy fog after 9pm. Low around 66. South wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Wednesday - Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Patchy fog before noon. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. South wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Wednesday night - Showers and thunderstorms likely before 11pm, then a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 59. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Thursday - Partly sunny, with a high near 67.

Thursday night - A chance of showers between 2am and 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday - Mostly cloudy, with a high near 67.

Friday night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 54.

Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 68.

Saturday night - Mostly clear, with a low around 53.
