RI Weather Forecast: Major Rain, Wind Expected Over Next 36 Hours

A winter weather advisory and hazardous weather outlook have been issued ahead of a real mess coming our way.

Rhode Island better get a big umbrella this week. Ice and rain are expected to make some spot appearances throughout Monday, and the heaviest rains are being saved for Tuesday.

Monday will see spotty bouts of rain and perhaps some very light snow. Temperatures will drop in the evening, possibly giving way to freezing rain and icing. The Monday evening and Tuesday morning commute are the ones forecasters have an eye on.

Tuesday's rain will be heavy enough to stoke concerns of flooding, but it won't be as bad was two weeks ago when all the snow was melting along with the rainfall. When it's all said and done, Rhode Island could see between an inch and an inch and a half. The interior of Massachusetts can expect the same, with about an inch in Southeastern Mass. See the rain map below:

Tuesday is also bringing very heavy winds. People in Rhode Island and south of Boston can expect wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour. You can see the wind map below:

In Massachusetts, there is a winter weather advisory, mainly due to icing concerns, in the northern interior part of the state. Other spots in both Eastern and Western Mass. are under a hazardous weather outlook as heavy wind and rain make their way in.
