RI Weather Forecast: When, How Much Rain Expected

See when the rain is expected to fall in your town. A hazardous weather outlook has been issued.

A hazardous weather outlook has once again been issued for all of Rhode Island as heavy rains threaten the area. The southern part of the state is at the greatest risk for the heaviest rainfall, but forecasters say everywhere will get more than inch.

When the rain is expected to come depends on where you live, though it should all be in the late afternoon right before the evening commute. Here are some rough estimates, issued Monday morning by the National Weather Service:

  • Coventry area: 3 p.m.
  • Charlestown area: 3 p.m.
  • Block Island: 4 p.m.
  • Providence area: 4 p.m.
  • Newport area: 4 p.m.

The heaviest rain should stay on the South Coast and could persist until Tuesday morning. The heavy rains could be part of a few strong thunderstorms.
