RI Weather: Heavy Storm Expected, But Without One Major Thing

A heavy rainstorm is expected Thursday night into Friday, potentially bringing up to 3 inches rain across Rhode Island. Despite the near certainty of heavy precipitation, there is almost no possibility of this being an early White Christmas gift due to warm temperatures.

The National Weather Service issued a statewide hazardous weather outlook, warning of the potential of urban and coastal flooding. The NWS also said there could be "strong to damaging" wind gusts.

Most of Rhode Island is expected to see between 2 - 3 inches of rain, although the coast may see about half of that.

The temperatures for the next couple of days dash any hope of snow before Christmas. Thursday will be 50 degrees, while the Friday is expected to have a high temperature of 62.

Beyond that, even as temperatures begin to dip into the 30s, the forecast is calling for a dry, partly cloudy Christmas Day.
