RI Weather: Heavy Wind, Rain Could Knock Out Power Lines

Winds of these speeds can knock out large tree limbs and cause isolated power outages.

Although the flood watch was lifted at 10 a.m., Friday, remnants from Hurricane Michael have now put a high wind advisory in effect until 3 p.m. Much of Rhode Island is expected to see consistent winds of 15 to 25 mph, with some gusts as high as 45 mph.

Winds of these speeds can knock out large tree limbs and cause isolated power outages. Small and weakened trees could also be knocked down, the National Weather Service said. People are asked to use caution while driving.

Affected counties include Providence, Kent, Bristol, Washington, Newport and Block Island.
