RI Weather: Major Weekend Warmup On The Way

Following several days of frigid overnight temperatures, a major shift is on the way for the weekend. Starting Friday, expect a massive warm-up, with spring-like temperatures topping 60 degrees.

While the temperatures will be balmy, skies won't be sunny all weekend. Following a slight chance of showers in the morning, Saturday will be cloudy and breezy. On Sunday, expect rain throughout the day, with the possibility of thunderstorms in the morning.

Temperatures will begin to fall again starting Monday, with highs only expected to reach the mid-40s in the first half of the week.

Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

A slight chance of showers between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. Southwest wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Saturday
A slight chance of showers between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 59. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Saturday Night
Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 5 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 54. Southwest wind 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
