RI Weather: Miserable Week Of Rain, Sleet, Snow Ahead

Abrupt temperatures swings and several bouts of nasty precipitation will certainly qualify the weather outside as frightful.

RHODE ISLAND — While it was beginning to look at lot like Christmas during last week's multi-day snowstorm, this week's forecast is looking far more grim. Following a wet and rainy Monday, New England is in for a miserable week of weather.

Expect on-and-off showers and warm temperatures on Monday, turning into sleet overnight as temperatures plunge nearly 30 degrees to near-freezing. More of the same is in the forecast for Tuesday, though considerable lower temperatures will create the perfect conditions for sleet and patches of black ice.

On Wednesday, Rhode Island will likely see more snow, with two to four inches of accumulation possible ahead of two sunny, cold days on Thursday and Friday. The weather will be same across much of New England.

While it's still too early to confidently say how the weekend will be, more beautiful weather like we saw this past weekend isn't likely. As of Monday, the National Weather Service calls for showers on both Saturday and Sunday, making it the perfect weather to watch Christmas movies, decorate the tree and drink hot cocoa rather than go outside.

Here's a look at the detailed forecast from the National Weather Service.
