RI Weather: Near-Record Cold, Possibility Of Snow This Week
Extremely cold temperatures will slam much of the U.S. this week, including Southern New England.
A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for Rhode Island ahead of near-record-breaking cold and possible snow showers this week. Plummeting temperatures will bring overnight lows into the teens, with the chance of snow showers on Tuesday night.
On Monday, temperatures will be seasonal, hitting the mid-50s. Rain and patchy fog will move in on Tuesday before the temperature suddenly drops, falling from 55 during the day to 18 by the evening. It's during this time that Rhode Islanders could see some snow showers, but no accumulation is expected. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the state during this time.
On Wednesday, the cold temperatures will hang around, with midday highs not expected to break the freezing point.
