RI Weather Outlook: Possible Downpours, Flooding

A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for the entire state.

Some bad weather is expected in Rhode Island on Friday as the East Coast gets soaked by the same storms that have been moving across the country. Rain could lead to anything between a few showers to heavy downpours which could prompt localized flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS issued a hazardous weather outlook for all of Rhode Island for what it calls a low to moderate risk of flooding in the afternoon and evening. The NWS is also warning of potential wind damage. You can see when the heaviest rains are possible over your town here:

"Enough rain can fall in a short period of time to lead to small stream flooding as well," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Kristina Pydynowski said.

The most severe storms should stay mainly well south of New England, but Boston has been designated a potential "area of flooding" by AccuWeather. About an inch of rain is expected into Friday evening, the NWS said.
