RI Weather Outlook: 'Potent' Super Bowl Sunday Storm
A fast-moving storm is expected to drench much of Rhode Island, with the worst of it coming during the Super Bowl.

A storm forecasters are calling fast-moving but "potent" could drench most of Southern New England in an inch or more of water Sunday night. The relatively short-lived nature of the storm will minimize the risk of widespread flooding or - if it turns to snow - excessive snowfall, but it's going to be at its worst during the Super Bowl.
The rain is expected to begin slowly some time around noon Sunday and intensify around kickoff - about 6:30 p.m. The "warm storm system," as the National Weather Service is calling it, won't leave until the early-morning hours on Monday.
Snow is possible at the onset of the storm, but the substantial snowfall is expected in Western Mass. and Northern New England. For Rhode Island and Southeastern Mass., the primary threat is heavy rain. A wintry mix is possible, but the temperatures should be high enough in the 30s and even 40s to keep it to rain.

The storm will last overnight, meaning you should make for some extra time in getting to work, whether it's slush or rain. Flight delays are possible Monday morning, so make sure to check with your airline.
