RI Weather Outlook: What To Expect In Sunday's Storm

A very serious storm has already prompted multiple weather warnings. Here is what Sunday looks like.

Sunday's storm is going to wicked. A flash flood watch and high wind warning blankets Southern New England. Here is what to expect during a windy, wet Sunday.

According to the Weather Channel, the rain will begin in Rhode Island around 2 p.m. In Massachusetts, it will start in the Worcester area as early as 5 a.m., the Framingham area around 11 a.m., and the Boston area around 5 p.m. Then it's going to intensify and last for quite awhile heading into Monday.

The National Weather Service calls for heavy rain dropping 1-3 inches around the Ocean State, and double that amount via some local rainfall. You can see below what areas in the most danger of "excessive rainfall."

The other problem is the wind. Maximum wind gusts of more than 40 miles per hour are expected, with that number ticking well past 50 along the coast. A storm warning warning extend out into the waters, where wind gusts of up to 70 mph are expected Sunday night and 55 mph Monday.

Travel conditions are expected to deteriorate Sunday into Monday, even prompting airline delays. Officials are warning of a dangerous Monday morning commute.
