RI Weather: Possibly Rainy Thanksgiving, Clear On Black Friday

A chance of showers could bring a damp start to Thanksgiving Day in Rhode Island.

RHODE ISLAND — Much of the country won't have much to be thankful for when it comes to the weather this Thanksgiving, and Rhode Island is no exception. Spotty showers are expected throughout the day on Thursday, but skies are expected to clear before shoppers head out for overnight Black Friday shopping.

The rain is expected to move in on Wednesday, with showers throughout the day and evening. On Thanksgiving Day, gusty winds and on-and-off rain are in the forecast, tapering off into the evening hours. No rain is expected for late Thursday night and Friday, though temperatures will likely drop into the high 20s overnight, so if you plan to line up for Black Friday shopping, bundle up.

With wind gusts as high as 30 to 50 mph expected in New York City, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade's iconic helium balloons could be grounded for the first time in decades. A final decision is expected early Thursday morning.
