RI Weather: Scattered Thunderstorms Possible Wednesday Evening
A hazardous weather outlook is in place for much of Rhode Island ahead of possible thunderstorms throughout the evening.
A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for much of Southern New England on Wednesday evening. Here in Rhode Island, scattered thunderstorms are expected to hit during the evening hours, until about 8 p.m.
The National Weather Service is warning of scattered strong and severe thunderstorms and the low risk of large hail and a tornado. Strong straight-line winds and locally heavy downpours are expected. The hazardous weather advisory covers all of Rhode Island except the southern coastal region.

Wednesday evening's storms come just a few days before Rhode Island is expected to be hit with the remnants of Hurricane Dorian. At this time, the storm is expected to stay well off the coast of Rhode Island, though it will likely bring heavy rain, strong winds and powerful surf, including potentially deadly rip currents.
