RI Weather: Thunderstorms Timeline, Mapping Friday

See when and where the rain is expected to hit - and just how cold it'll be tonight.

The next few hours could see anything from scattered showers to strong thunderstorms. The National Weather Service has issued a simulated radar for you to plan your day around, and it appears the precipitation will be more widespread as the morning turns into the afternoon. Click that map below to see the latest estimations.

A flash flood watch has been issued for all of Rhode Island and Eastern Massachusetts, while the rest of the Bay State is under a hazardous weather outlook. Areas under the flash flood watch should be wary of thunderstorms "capable of producing very heavy rainfall in a short period of time," which the NWS said can give way to flooding in urban and poor drainage areas.

Once the storms clear up, the temperature will mercifully drop quite a bit. Areas that saw 90 degrees just a day ago will be as low as 50 overnight, the NWS said.
