RI Weather: Flash Flood Watch Ahead Of Heavy Rain
A flash flood watch has been declared for all of Rhode Island starting at 1 p.m.
A flash flood watch is in effect across Rhode Island and parts of Massachusetts ahead of heavy rain throughout the afternoon and evening on Wednesday. As much as four to five inches of rain could fall in some areas, though most are expected to see one to three inches of rain.
Periods of heavy rain can quickly flood streets, making them impassable. The RHode Island Emergency Management Agency reminded drivers to never attempt to drive through a flooded road. Seek an alternate route instead.
While Wednesday is starting off with sun and partial clouds, it won't stay that way for long. Showers and possible thunderstorms will move in around 1 p.m., followed by periods of heavy rain later in the evening and during the overnight hours.
