RI Weather: When The Snow Will Stop, End, Then Freeze

Forecasters are saying to expect a "burst of heavy snow overnight" as the region preps for the first major snow storm of the winter. The latest forecast Saturday is calling for warmer temperatures than initially expected, but while Rhode Island still could see snow, expect a ton of rain.

The National Weather Service said to expect the burst to begin between midnight and 2 a.m. and exit the Massachusetts border around sunrise. You can see the most detailed radar estimates below.

Overall, less snow and ice than first reported is expected. But heavy rain will follow the snow Sunday, then temperatures will plummet in the evening hours. The NWS said there will be a flash freeze that could make Sunday night and Monday morning treacherous.

All of Rhode Island is still under a winter weather advisory.
