Rogers Beats Westerly In Regular Season Finale
The Vikings beat the Bulldogs at home on Wednesday night in the final game of the regular season.
The Rogers boys basketball team defeated the Westerly Bulldogs in a tight game Wednesday night. A dunk by Devon Bailey tore the game open late in the second half.
The first half started off in Rogers' favor as they took an early 9-2 lead, forcing Westerly to take a time out.
Rogers continued to press and push, pushing Westerly to a seven-point deficit with 5:30 remaining in the first half. Less than a minute later, Rogers' Christian Cancel flew down the lane with a fast break. Rogers was up 25-16 lead with 4:34 on the first half clock.

After another Westerly timeout, the Bulldogs took it to Rogers with an 8-2 run over the next two minutes to make it a three point game with two minutes to go in the half.
Rogers had some trouble at the foul line in the first half and allowed the Bulldogs to stay within striking distance.

At the half, Rogers led Westerly, 31-26.
The Vikings came out of the gate on fire to start the second half. They had a comfortable 38-31 lead and with 13 minutes to go.
Westerly came back again. They cut the Rogers lead to three once again. After a Rogers timeout, the Vikings came out hitting back to back 3-pointers to open the lead back up to seven.
The two teams battled for loose balls and after a five minute game of back and forth, Rogers took over offensively. The crowd erupted after a thunderous two-handed dunk by Devon Bailey, which helped seal the win for Rogers.
The final score was 66-53.
Marc Washington led the Vikings with 17 points, and Devon Bailey finished with 15. This was the final regular season game for Rogers.
The Vikings have already clinched a first round bye in the upcoming playoffs and are waiting for the rest of the league to finish play to decide who their first opponent will be.
