Rogers Falls to Middletown On Senior Night
The Rogers High School co-op hockey team fell to Middletown on Saturday night in front of a packed crowd at St. George's ice rink.
The Rogers co-op Hockey team, which includes students from Tiverton and Rocky Hill as well, was defeated by Middletown High School on Saturday at St. George's Ice Rink. Rogers celebrated senior night before the face off, and the athletes' parents greeted the boys on the ice.
Rogers wasted no time and struck first, scoring at the 8:28 mark of the first period. The goal came from senior Lu Leys, with assists from Sanford and Tierney.
Middletown scored a short time later with a goal by Jared Dugan, assisted by Armstrong and Coogan.

The two teams banged against the boards for the remainder of the first. The second period was all defense by the two squads.
At the end of the second period the score was tied 1-1.

The Islanders took over the game offensively in the third period. Ian Larcom scored a power play goal at the 3:57 mark, assisted by Kevan Sullivan, putting Middletown up 2-1 over Rogers.
The Vikings fought hard to get back into the game, but couldn't get the puck past Middletown's goalie.
Middletown scored one more time at the 14:55 mark. It was an unassisted goal by Michael Curtis, who scored his 19th goal of the season.
The Rogers/Tiverton/Rocky Hill co-op is scheduled to play North Smithfield next on Sunday at the Abbey at 4 p.m.
