Rogers High Student Charged with Disorderly Conduct

A 14-year-old girl was released to her mother's custody on Thursday after an incident with another student at Rogers High, police said.

NEWPORT, RI — Police on Thursday at 10 a.m. charged a 14-year-old Rogers High student with Disorderly Conduct and Resisting arrest. The girl was flailing her arms, yelling and swearing, police allege. Staff were unable to calm her and said the youngster became upset after an "altercation" with another student. The girl, whose name is being withheld because she is a juvenile, was released to her mother's custody. The school said she is also being suspended for five days.
