Rogers Track Loses to Middletown, Wins Over Tolman
Rogers, Middletown, and Tolman met in a track meet at Gaudet Field Monday afternoon, where Rogers earned a split and Middletown came out 2-0.
hosted a dual track meet at the Gaudet Field on Monday. The meet saw Middletown, Rogers, and Tolman square off against each other. Pea soup fog, steady mist and biting winds threw off many athletes' performances in events like the javelin and high jump.
In the end Middletown defeated both Rogers High from Newport and Tolman High from Pawtucket, going 2-0 on the day.
Rogers earned a split with a loss to Middletown and win over Tolman.

According to the official Rhode Island Interscholastic League (RIIL) results and Middletown head coach Angela Coughlin, the individual results were as follows:

- DJ Connerton placed 2nd in the hammer with a throw of 78’11”. DJ took 3rd in the shot put throwing 26’5” and first place in the discus with a throw of 84’2”.
- Anna Hawkins placed 2nd in the long jump and triple jump. Anna took 1st place in the 400 meter dash. with a time of 71.3 seconds.
- Shannon Hugard placed 1st in the high jump and the 1500 meter run with a time of 6:16. She place 2nd in the 800 meter race with a time of 3:00.
- Kenleigh Hebel placed 2nd in the javelin 65’1”. Kenleigh took 1st in the 3000 meter run with a time of 12:56 and the 800 m with a time of 2:50.
- Emily Buck took 3rd in the javelin and 1500.
- Emily Westcott took 2nd in the high jump, clearing 4ft. 4in.
- Carla Peter took 2nd in the 100 m hurdles with a time of 21.33 seconds.
- Lydia Burns took 2nd in the 100 m dash.
Top individual finishers for Rogers High School:
- Grace Janes took 1st place in the hammer thrown with a throw of 141’3” and placed 2nd in the discus throw with a distance of 81’9”.
- Autumn Wosencroft placed 1st in the long jump with a distance of 14’10”, took 1st place in the triple jump with a distance of 29’5”, and placed 1st in the 100 m dash with a time of 13.7 seconds.
- Tia Cromwell placed 1st in the shot put with a throw of 28’1” and placed 3rd in the hammer throw with a distance of 71”11’.
- Allison Bonner placed 3rd in the 800 m run with a time of 3:06 and placed 2nd in the 400 m run at 72.9 seconds.
Rogers' next meet will be on April 26, when they host Shea, St. Mary Academy, Bay View and St. Raphael Academy. Start time for that meet is 3:30 p.m.
