NEWPORT, RI — Could Senate President M. Teresa Paiva Weed be leaving Smith Hill?
That's the speculation Tuesday night after reports she is a top contender for a job as head of the Hospital Association of Rhode Island. According to WPRI-TV, the association represents all the state's hospitals except Lifespan, which left the organization several years ago.
Paiva-Weed, a Democrat, represents Jamestown and part of Newport. She has won 12 campaigns and served in the state Senate almost 25 years.
