Sixth Annual Summer Soiree & Opening of Blanc de Blanc Exhibition

Sixth Annual Summer Soirée & Opening of Blanc de Blanc Exhibition at the Jamestown Arts Center

On Friday, July 1 from 6-9pm the Jamestown Arts Center (JAC) will host its sixth annual Summer Soirée and an exclusive viewing of the Summer Exhibition Blanc de Blanc. Highlights of the Blanc de Blanc Summer Soirée include a delectable selection of summery hors d’oeuvres and seafood, including a raw bar from Matunuck Oyster Bar; specialty cocktail: “Paloma”; a silent auction featuring exquisite jewelry from Three Golden Apples, a painting by abstract artist Richard Polsky, Champagne & Jamestown Fish Hors d’oeuvres Pairing Party and more; and live music.

More about the exhibit, Blanc de Blanc: Throughout history, artists have used the color white or lack of color to highlight significance in their art. From Henry Ossawa Tanner’s bold white strokes of light in a dark interior to Agnes Martin’s muted transcendental palette, to Barbara Hepworth’s cool marble and cast forms, artists have boldly displayed the emotional power of white to convey their many intentions. Blanc de Blanc investigates artists’ deliberate use of white in their artwork. Over 120 artists applied from across the country and over seas, and curators Nezka Pfeifer Curator, Everhart Museum and Rita Reamer, Designer chose 35 pieces for the exhibit.

A special preview from 5-6pm will feature a curator’s talk, bubbly, and a special selection of hors d’oeuvres.
