Smoke House Opens for Season with New Taco Tuesdays

Newport's popular BBQ spot is officially open for the season.

That great smell is wafting over the water again. Smoke House, the popular BBQ restaurant owned by Newport Restaurant Group, is open for the season.

This year, Executive Chef Walter Slater is introducing a new Taco Tuesday promotion with buy one, get one free tacos all day long.

“The Giant Taco is filled with your choice of pulled pork, brisket, fried chicken, or skirt steak; lettuce, tomato, cheddar, guacamole, sour cream and hot sauce,” the restaurant explained in an announcement. “So, grab a friend, a mason jar cocktail, and enjoy!”

The revamped menu this year is focusing on Southern-inspired fare and “laidback fun,” Slater said. It includes highlights like fried pickles with spicy remoulade, hot wings served BBQ or Buffalo style, smoke house poutine made with french fires, cheese and BBQ gravy. The traditional barbecue options are all there: baby back ribs, brisken, chicken, pulled pork and sausage are still smoked in their Southern Pride smoker.

Beverage Director Shawn Westhoven said recommends the “Garden Party” with organic cucumber vodka, Riesling, and lime; the “Beerarita” with tequila, beer, fresh jalapeno, and pineapple juice; and the “Cojito” with coconut rum, elderflower liqueur, fresh lime, mint, and soda.

For guests wishing to experience fresh flavors without the alcohol, mocktails such as the Nojito with fresh mint, lime, and soda and the Smoke House-Made Lemonade are the perfect accompaniment to the Southern fare.
