Smoky Skies, Summer Heat Return To Rhode Island
Hazy skies, caused by smoke from western wildfires, are expected in Rhode Island to start off the week.
Rhode Islanders will likely see hazy skies again Monday afternoon and evening, as smoke from western wildfires drifts across Southern New England. The state saw the return of summer heat and sunny skies, with few chances for rain in the coming week.
According to the National Weather Service, the plumes of smoke come from the West Coast. While skies were clear Monday morning, the haze is expected to be visible later in the day.
After an unseasonably rainy July, this week is shaping up to be a return to summer weather in Rhode Island. Temperatures are expected to climb into the high 80s Monday, with continued high temperatures and a chance of thunderstorms Tuesday. The rest of the week will see temperatures in the high 70s, with the highest chance of rain on Thursday.
