Stabbing Victim Charged with Violating a No Contact Order
Police say Edwin Toro, 49, was arrested at Bayside Village Apartments and charged with violating a No Contact order for his role Dec. 19.

NEWPORT, RI —A homeless man, whose estranged wife allegedly stabbed him Dec. 19, went back to her apartment building at Festival Field on Monday. Edwin Toro, 49, was arrested in a building hallway at 5 p.m., police said.
He was charged with violating a No Contact order, his third offense, police said. The charge stemmed from his actions on Dec. 19.
According to the police report, Toro's estranged wife accused him of violating a No Contact order on Dec. 19 when he went to her apartment to pick up some clothes. An argument started, and he was stabbed in the left forearm. He was taken to Newport Hospital and then transferred to Rhode Island Hospital due to the risk of nerve damage from his injury. The injury was not life-threatening, police said.
