Swinburne Sells for $2.8 Million

NEWPORT, RI — "Swinburne" has been sold for $2.8 million, according to Jay Serzan, realtor at Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty.

The Greek Revival house was built in 1860 and sits on a half-acre across from Touro Park in Newport’s Historic Hill neighborhood. It was the one time home of William Swinburne, a nineteenth century Mayor of Newport.

The main house, at 115 Pelham St., measures 4,653 square feet. The property also includes guest quarters above a two car garage and an in-ground pool.

It was originally listed for $2,995,000, Serzan said, but it sold today for $2,847,500.

The listings agents were Jay Serzan and Jose Aguon and the cooperating agent was Christina West, also with Gustave White Sotheby’s.
