Teen Charged With Stealing $300 From Health Worker
A 16-year-old Newport girl was charged with stealing money from a health worker's purse from a facility on Girard Avenue.

NEWPORT, RI — Police arrested a 16-year-old Newport girl on July 18 at 2:47 p.m. for allegedly stealing $300. The charge (Larceny under $1,500) stems from an incident July 12 at a facility on Girard Avenue. The teen, whose name is not being released because she is a juvenile, took the money from a purse while another juvenile distracted the victim by asking for medication.
The two juveniles spent the money on two sandwiches at International Pocket Cafe, East Main Road, Middletown. They also treated themselves to manicures and Signature Nail & Spa on Connell Highway and bought a sea glass necklace on Thames Street.
The case is being handled in Family Court.
