Thames Street Closed Tonight Feb. 28 Between Memorial and Young
Thames Street is closed tonight, per the Newport Police Department. The reason is due to repairs to the gas main.
NEWPORT, RI—Thames Street is closed between Memorial and Young on Feb. 28, starting at 8 p.m., according to the Newport Police. The reason is National Grid will be making repairs to the gas main on Thames.
Police officers will be posted at the intersection of Memorial Boulevard and Thames Street to detour traffic
eastbound up Memorial. Anyone needing access to Thames Street businesses or homes between Memorial Boulevard and Young Street will be allowed through by officers on the scene when informed by motorist of their destination.
Police said they apologize for the inconvenience.
