Tour d’Elegance To Parade Through Newport Oct. 5
Expect heavy delays and road closures throughout the day.
NEWPORT, RI — Expect delays and closures in downtown Newport on Saturday as the Audrain’s Newport Concours Tour d ’Elegance makes its way through the city. The tour will make its way from Jamestown to Newport, snaking throughout the city throughout the morning and afternoon along a scenic route.
The parade of cars will leaving Jamestown around 7:45 a.m., crossing the Pell Bridge approximately 15 minutes later. The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority told drivers to expect approximately 10 minute delays in both directions around 8 a.m. as the parade passes through.
Once in Newport, the parade will turn onto Farewell Street, heading southbound along America's Cup Boulevard, lower Thames Street, westbound onto Wellington Avenue, south on Halidon Avenue, Harrison Avenue and into Fort Adams State Park for the Cars and Coffee event.

Cars and Coffee runs from 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. Afterwards, the cars will continue their scenic drive from Harrison Avenue to Ridge Road, then Castle Hill Road, heading around Ocean Avenue to head north on Bellevue Avenue.
From there, the the parade will then head east on Memorial Boulevard, heading into Middletown along Second Beach before hooking around and heading back onto Bellevue Avenue.

Bellevue Avenue will be closed to traffic from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. from Williams Street to Bowery Street. Drivers heading north will be detoured to East Bowery StreetFreebody Street and onto Memorial Boulevard. Heading south, drivers will be rerouted onto Williams Street to King Street and Bowery Street before returning to Bellevue Avenue.
Bellevue Gardens will be accessible from Jones Street and Bellevue Plaza can be reached from East Bowery Street.
Newport police expect heavy traffic and crowds in the city on Saturday with the parade, Coffee and Cars, Newport Festa Italiana, Salve Regina football game and parents weekend all happening at the same time. Parking will be banned on King and Freebody Street while roads are closed to allow for the Bellevue Avenue detour.
The Queen Mary 2 will be docked in Newport for the day as well, bringing an influx of tourists.
