uberXL Launches in Newport

On the heels of Uber launching its uberX service in Newport, Providence and Narragansett earlier this year, the ride sharing service has rolled out its uberXL service this weekend.

uberXL offers seating for up to six passengers in a SUV-style ride. That means you can bring the whole entourage back home to your pad after a night out on the town.

In a release, the company said the service is also perfect for families, students and friends moving around Providence and Newport together.

The base fare is $3.50 plus 30 cents per minute and $3.05 per mile. You can split the fare across passengers to cut down individual costs.

uberXL availability might be limited initially, the company said.
