U.S. Navy Band, Newport Students, Meld Music Together

Members of the U.S. Navy Band offered some instruction and joined students for some musical performances led by director Don Chilton.

Students at Thompson Middle School in Newport joined members of the U.S. Navy Bad this morning for some valuable instruction and a chance to make music together.

More than 170 enlisted members of the Navy comprise the Navy Band and along with performing musical support to the President and Department of the Navy, they’re known for taking part in as many community outreach events as possible.

Members of the Navy Band spent time with the students during band, chorus and orchestra classes to offer instruction as well as join them in performances led by band director Don Chilton.

The Navy Band plays at presidential inaugurations, memorial services at Arlington National Cemetery and hundreds of other events during the year.

Navy Band Northeast is based at Naval Station Newport and is one of 11 official U.S. Navy bands around the world.
