Volvo Ocean Race Hits the Big Screen at Jane Pickens Theater Thursday
An update on the race, current standings and a live video call with Charlie Enright and the team Alvimedica will be featured.

The Jane Pickens Theater is hosting a big screen update on the Volvo Ocean Race this Thursday, including a live video call from the Home Team, Alvimedica.
The event is Thursday, March 12, beginning at 6 p.m. as the doors open. The presentation will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for theater members and $12 for nonmembers. Visitors under 21 are free but you must have a reservation.

The Newport stopover for the race is May 5 to 17 and it’s the only American North American stopover in the Grand Prix competition.

The race, which spans 38,739 nautical miles began in October in Alicante, Spain, and finishes in Gothenburg, Sweden.
It’s the 12th edition of the around-the-world sailing challenge and is expected to bring some tourism dollars into Rhode Island along with the racing teams and sailing fans.
Thursday’s event will also include a live video call with Charlie Enright, a Bristol native, along with the rest of Team Alvimedica: Amory Ross, Nick Dana and Mark Towill.
