Who's a Hero? Police to Hold Awards Ceremony Monday
It's not officially a mystery, but the police don't yet which officers will be recognized for heroism at Monday's annual awards ceremony.
NEWPORT, RI — Newport police will recognize some heroes in its own ranks on Monday May 15. The annual awards ceremony is set for 6 p.m. at Thompson Middle School, 55 Broadway, Newport. Officers will be recognized for courageous acts that saved people from death or serious injury. The department will also salute members who turned in superior performance through the year and highly credible level of police work.
These awards are for the 2016 calendar year, police said.
