Woman Arrested for Passing fake $100 at Newport Dunkin'

Police said the North Carolina woman used a fake $100 bill to buy a $20 gift card.

Newport police on Monday arrested a 32-year-old North Carolina woman for passing a fake $100 bill at the Dunkin Donuts on Connell Highway earlier this month.

Police said Alaina Congliaro, 32, of 199 Bucks Corner Road, Swansboro, N.C., walked into the Dunkin’ Donuts in a black dress at around 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 14 and bought a $20 gift card with the fake $100 bill.

Store employees looked closely at the bill and noticed that the magnetic stripe embedded in the bill showed it was actually a $5 note.
