• New Shoreham School Committee Boosts Drama Advisor Hours (upriseri.com) — New Shoreham's School Committee just boosted drama advisor hours to better align pay with athletic coaches and confirmed the district's special education program is now in full state compliance. Members also advanced a staff hiring policy, prepared for self-operated food service next year, and discussed a major school building addition. Several staffing changes and open teaching assistant positions could affect students and families this fall.
• New Shoreham HDC Continues Porch Case (upriseri.com) — New Shoreham's Historic District Commission is tightening oversight, ending most administrative approvals so even routine in-kind repairs may now require a full hearing. At its latest meeting, the HDC continued a dispute over a non-compliant porch, demanded redesigns for a High Street renovation, and approved a smaller deck replacement, with more cases scheduled for October. Property owners should expect closer review of upcoming projects.
