Community members and a youth tennis leader described safety and program impacts, while a committee member warned that continued public attention is crucial to keep funding and construction decisions from stalling.
2. North Kingstown DEI Panel Weighs Goals, Student Feedback (upriseri.com) — North Kingstown parents and students can expect the school district's DEI subcommittee to focus this year on discipline practices, accessibility upgrades, staff diversity, and student supports like mental health staffing and after-school programs. Members reviewed student feedback, discussed peer mentoring and curriculum changes around tolerance, and heard that high school leaders are helping launch GSAs at the middle schools, with more data and decisions coming at the October 21 meeting.
3. RI got record rainfall. So why are water limits staying? (newportri.com) — North Kingstown's U.S. Geological Survey monitoring well is the only one in Rhode Island still below normal groundwater levels, even after this summer's record rain. State officials have downgraded the drought from a watch to an advisory, but outdoor water restrictions remain in some communities as they cautiously wait for aquifers to fully recover.
