North Providence Man Arrested On Ghost Gun Charge: Cops (patch.com) — A 21-year-old North Providence resident has been charged with manufacturing or possessing a so‑called ghost or 3D‑printed gun, along with receiving stolen goods. State police and North Providence officers arrested him after a joint investigation, and additional larceny and vandalism charges are expected to be presented in Providence Superior Court.
2. The results are in! Here's who won Wednesday's high school games in RI (newportri.com) — North Providence boys soccer fans can look ahead to hosting Coventry at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, as part of a busy statewide slate of high school games. The roundup also recaps Wednesday's soccer, field hockey, tennis, and volleyball results across Rhode Island, giving local families a quick way to track how nearby schools and rivals are performing early in the fall season.
3. URI Students settled in as Classes start TODAY, with Expanded Curriculum. Go Rhodys! (rinewstoday.com) — Several new University of Rhode Island students hail from North Providence, including families who praised the smooth move-in process and chose URI to stay close to home. The story highlights local students entering kinesiology and other programs, plus new degrees and expanded online offerings that may interest North Providence residents considering URI for themselves or their children.
4. Coalition Rallies to Keep Kennedy Plaza Bus Hub (ecori.org) — A North Providence resident who depends on buses to reach Rhode Island Hospital joined riders rallying to keep Kennedy Plaza as the state's main bus hub. Protesters argue moving the hub to the Providence train station would inconvenience daily riders and strain RIPTA's finances, and they're circulating petitions and planning more rallies to pressure officials to keep and improve the current plaza location.
