Morning, neighbors! It's me again, Nicole Fallon-Peek, your host of the Pawtucket Daily.

First, today's weather:

Periods of sun. High: 52 Low: 42.

Here are the top stories in Pawtucket today:

  1. A driver who slammed into a utility pole on Newport Avenue in Pawtucket yesterday and attempted to run from the scene has been arrested. Manny Roman, 47, of Attleboro was caught by two local citizens, who detained him until police arrived. Roman is now facing charges for possession of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended or revoked license, obstruction, resisting arrest, and several other charges. (WJAR)
  2. Yesterday's nor'easter left many residents and businesses across Southern New England without power and mangled many expensive homemade Halloween displays in the area. One Pawtucket family said the front lawn display at their Rowe Avenue home estimates that their now-destroyed props, including some electronic pieces, are worth a combined $18,000. The homeowners were attempting to raise awareness and donations for the Wounded Warrior Project with their "Haunted Mansion" display, which they are trying to salvage in time for trick-or-treaters this weekend. (WJAR)
  3. The Pawtucket school committee is growing increasingly frustrated with vendors that are not providing the services they promised. Committee members say that the slideshows and pictures that vendors are presenting "don't match reality" and that they are "not being held accountable" for providing appropriate learning conditions for students and staff, especially during ongoing school upgrades. (Valley Breeze)
  4. A multimillion-dollar loan recently granted to Southside Community Land Trust (SCLT) is set to improve the availability of healthy and affordable food in Pawtucket, Central Falls, and South Providence. SCLT, which partners with local community gardens in cities like Pawtucket, received $2.158 million from the Healthy Retail and Commerce Fund, which will help finance a new headquarters and Farm-to-Market Center in Providence's Trinity Square.
