Here are the top stories in Pawtucket today:
- Rhode Island Judge Melissa Darigan dismissed a legal challenge by The Rhode Island Association of Firefighters to block a state requirement for health care workers to get a coronavirus vaccine by Oct. 1 or risk losing their licenses. The firefighters argued that the state Department of Health's mandate violated state law. Judge Darigan wrote in her decision, "In short, the court does not believe this regulation imposes a new working condition." (Trumbull Times)
- The Providence Police Department has increased officers out on foot patrol in an attempt to prevent violent crime in the city. The latest effort by the department comes after a wave of crime, resulting in the nineteenth homicide in Providence this year. (WLNE-TV (ABC6))
- The North Providence Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a vehicle involved in a hit and run two weeks ago. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a red 2019-2021 Volkswagen Jetta. Police say the vehicle sustained front-end damage during the crash, and is missing a headlight. The police are asking anyone who has information to call the department at 401-231-4533. (WLNE-TV (ABC6))
- One Citizens Plaza in Providence is on the market again. The asking price is unknown, but according to Providence tax records, it is assessed for tax purposes at more than $33 million.(GoLocalProv)
- A 23-year-old man, Nathaniel Mayer, was arrested after police raided his apartment and seized over three kilograms of what they said were counterfeit prescription pills with an estimated $57,000 street value, as well as alleged crystal methamphetamine. (The Sun Chronicle)
