Happy Thursday, people of Pawtucket! Here's everything you need to know going on today.

First, today's weather:

Sun through high clouds. High: 39 Low: 31.

Here are the top 3 stories in Pawtucket today:

  1. Pawtucket police are currently searching for a man who reportedly robbed a Gulf Express at knifepoint last Wednesday. Around 3 p.m. on Dec. 29, a suspect was caught on surveillance camera walking into the East Avenue gas station, pointing a knife at the cashier, and going behind the counter to take cash from the register. The man then ran out and fled the scene in a blue or green Honda Civic with New Jersey license plates. Anyone with information that could help identify the suspect should call Detective Andrew Torres at (401) 727-9100 ext. 769 or email atorres@pawtucketpolice.com. (WLNE-TV (ABC6))
  2. The City of Pawtucket is going a little greener by adding five new electric vehicles to its fleet. The Zoning department recently purchased four 2022 Nissan Leaf "S" model cars and a 2022 Nissan Leaf "S" Plus model to help its staff "address and assess possible zoning violations present in the community," according to Mayor Donald Grebien. These new city cars will be recognizable by their updated electricity-inspired Pawtucket City Seal and the tag line, "Pawtucket… Driving the Future." (The Valley Breeze)
  3. Heather and Hank Macomber, the couple who owns the beloved Kip's Restaurant, say it is "ripping [them] apart" to be forced out of their landmark establishment. The Macombers, who have been at their location on the corner of Newport Avenue and Armistice Boulevard for decades, say they were informed three weeks ago that they had to vacate the property by Feb. 1 to make way for a new Chase Bank and drive-thru. The couple issued a statement thanking customers, family, friends, and former employees for their years of support as their Jan. 19 closing date approaches. (The Valley Breeze)
